In the new EP, C.J. Plus, a soundproducer and vinyl digger from Odesa, have breathed new life into Ukrainian rare grooves of the 70s pumped with a funky beat. In the making of this album, the musician used fragments of Soviet records by Ukrainian artists from his vinyl collection, viz. songs "Tri Trembiti" by Kalina, "A Guelder Rose Grows By The Mill" by Vizerunky Shlyakhiv, "Wait" by Kobza, "Darling Girl" by Vodograi, "Vodograi" by Smerichka , "Spring" by Arnika, "Verkhovyna Lullaby" by Vatra. Also conceptual bonus tracks by another beatmaker from Odessa, Purgatory Of Souls, are included to this EP with samples from Arnika's songs "Krajnia khatka" and "Evening in Lviv" which have acquired a new sound.

У новому альбомi саундпродюсер i вініловий дігер з Одеси C.J. Plus надав нового життя українським грувам 70-х, прокачавши їх фанковим бітом. У створенні альбому едiтів музикант використав фрагменти з радянських платiвок українських виконавців iз власної вiнiлової колекції, а саме композиції ВІА Калина "Три трембiти", Візерунки Шляхів "Коло млина калина", Кобза "Зачекай", Водограй "Дiвчина мила", Смерiчка "Водограй", Арнiка "Весна", Ватра "Верховинська колискова". Також концептуальним бонусом у альбомi присутні треки одеського бітмейкера Purgatory Of Souls, у яких семпли з пiсень ВІА Арнiка "Крайня хатка" i "Львiвській вечiр" знаходять нове звучання.

"Ukrainian producer C.J. Plus hits the nail on the head once again with mini-LP Ukraine In Grooves as he re-tools obscure 70s Ukrainian cuts for both the heads and the b-boys. In other words you get to lap up the psych, funk, soul and folk influences on this while cruising in the lowrider and later on when you get your uprock on. Highlights (though it’s all strong stuff) include opener Kalyna which turns on filthy ‘black rock’-style guitar and psych vox, Vizerunky which pits horns and crazy folk-psych keys against rolling breakbeats and the uptempo Vesna which is surely a shoe-in for this year’s Battle Of The Year or Floor Wars. Also included on the release (and bringing the total number of tracks up to nine) are two numbers from fellow Odessa producer Purgatory Of Souls whose Knight Of The Brush and Evening dovetail perfectly with the vibe since they also sample Ukrainian rare groove and complete a trio of downtempo bumps that end the release as they follow-on immediately from C.J. Plus’s own beautiful downtempo number Kolyskova. All that and it’s available on a ‘name your price deal’ too! Boom"
